What do I do if I haven't received my refund?
The Internal Revenue Service has a toll free number to handle your refund inquiries. It is 1-800-829-4477. Or you can visit their website at www.irs.gov.
Oregon Department of Revenue can be reached at 1-800-356-4222.
Please have your social security number, your filing status (for IRS), the type of tax form filed (for Oregon) and the whole dollar amount of your refund handy. Be sure you have allowed 4 - 6 weeks for your refund.

We will currently form corporations in the state of Oregon. Our service includes a discussion of the proper entity selection and tax elections; and other State and Federal applications necessary to start your business. We can file all the necessary paperwork.

What if I have a tax question during the tax year?
As a regular tax preparation client you may contact Hilltop Tax Service as often as necessary during the year for tax planning advice. There is no charge for brief telephone, fax or email questions or advice.

How much does Hilltop Tax Service charge?
We do not charge per hour. Our fees are based on the number of forms and schedules filed. If we do your bookkeeping or payroll, this is especially helpful for your monthly budget.

How long do I keep my tax records?
The Internal Revenue Service suggests 3 years from the due date of your last return. We suggest that you discard receipts, bills and credit card statements after 3 years. However, your tax returns, W-2s, 1099s from banks and mutual funds or brokerage firms or any contract for an asset you still own should be made a part of a permanent file.

What if I get a letter from the IRS?
If you receive a letter relating to a federal or state tax return we have prepared, send it directly to us and we will respond accordingly. We do not charge for responding to tax notices when the return was correct as originally filed, or if we made an error. If we have to prepare additional forms or schedules or an amended return, we may have to charge an additional fee.

How quickly can I receive my tax refund?
Within 1-5 days, if you use our refund anticipation loan. We can also file your tax return electronically and have your refund deposited directly into your bank account within approximately 10 days. Some restrictions apply. Call our office for details.
